About Us:

Mr. and Mrs. B (a.k.a. Bill & Kathy Bessling) decided to open their own private driving school in 1996 after Mr. B retired from teaching social studies and world cultures for 30 years in the Baltimore County Public Schools. Mr. B has personally taught over 10,000 students how to drive since 1971. He has taught in the following Baltimore and Howard County Public Schools: Hereford, Catonsville, Lansdowne, Woodlawn, Pikesville, Milford Mill, Franklin, Centennial, and River Hill High Schools.

They insist that it be a school first and a business second. Mr. B’s Driving School is a leader in the field of driver education in the State of Maryland. In fact, Mr. B has been training drivers for over 35 years as well as holds a master’s equivalent degree in traffic safety from Towson State University.  Our goals are to develop drivers who possess both an excellent understanding of the rules of the road and a high level of competence in control of their vehicle.

In every case, our goals are to produce drivers who possess confidence in his or her ability to drive on any road under any condition. This confidence comes only from our commitment to building solid habits of good risk assessment skills as well as the use of Mr. B’s Ten Commandents of Defensive Driving Techniques in each of our students.

Our instructors are licensed and certified by the State of Maryland and are re-qualified every two years. MVA also completes a thorough criminal background check every two years. All instructors must maintain a clean driving record.

Mr. & Mrs. B are passionate about teaching the driver education curriculum clearly, while being mindful of each student’s needs. We know that everyone learns differently, and that in order to reach them individually, we must teach each point visually and tactilely. Most importantly, our instructors are experienced in creating an environment for safe instruction.
